The Roof of the MCA and Beyond, Monday

Okay, so... that had definitely been A Weekend. Doing tea with Sith Lords, having to face the fact that Summer was leaving for his own damn off-limits homeworld tomorrow and there wasn't a thing he could do for her if it all went sideways. Not having any guests of his own...

... Even if Sparkle and Hernando's guest had really given it her best attempt.

He had a lot to chew on. He was antsy. And antsy meant...

Well. He could think of someone else from home who probably hadn't had a visitor, which was why he was shooting Sabine a text:

Supply run day again. You in?

And then he was heading to the usual place, leaning back against the side of his ship with his arms crossed over his chest. Just waiting.

"Especially if she manages to find someone reliable to cover business while she's away," Kanan agreed.

And frowned faintly. "Very reliable."

Because spying, and all.

"Yeah," she said. "Not sure how that's gonna go."

"She intends to have actual staff," Kanan said, shaking his head. "We joked about sending the Luke's staff with her yesterday, but in hindsight that's looking like a better idea the more I think about it."

He was fretting again.

It was kind of what he did, these days.

"It might not be terrible," Sabine allowed. "She'll be okay, though."

[uncertain_dume]

"She'll be fine," Kanan agreed. "Plenty of people live on Coruscant and they're fine. This is fine."

Kanan was not fine with this, folks.

"Okay but when I say that, I mean it," Sabine said.

[uncertain_dume]

"And if I say it enough, maybe I'll even forget to not mean it, eventually," Kanan attempted.

Hey, it was a nice thought.

"It's nice that you care, at least," Sabine said with a shrug.

[uncertain_dume]

"Well, she's one of my best friends," Kanan replied, shrugging back. "If anything happens to her because she was on Coruscant eavesdropping on Imperials she wouldn't have ever learned about if it wasn't for me..."

He just sighed and shrugged.

"I'd probably go running in to help. People are going to have to sit on me to keep that from happening."

Because, you know, he'd get dead. Fast.

"If something like that happened, it's not because of you. She knows the risks," Sabine pointed out. "And you've got some time before you even have to worry about that anyway. She hadn't even set anything up yet."

[uncertain_dume]

"She owns property," Kanan said. "On Coruscant."

He sighed and shook his head, slouching down in the other seat.

"But she's got this, I know. Hell, she's pulled my behind out of the fire more than once. I know she's got this."

"Exactly," Sabine said.

He might not appreciate the obviousness of the ship, come to think of it.

Would it make you feel better to talk about something else?"

"Maybe," Kanan allowed. "It might get my mind off of it for a while, anyway. What's on the shopping list for this week?"

"Topping off some ingredients," she replied. "I still haven't gotten my stuff off the Ghost, so I'm keeping it small for now."

[uncertain_dume]

"Sounds good," Kanan agreed, nodding. "I probably ought to stock up on power packs for my blaster, as it is. And maybe fuel up. I have a few more supply runs in the Escape here, but that doesn't mean I want to chance it if something goes sideways."

"Oh, things never go sideways," Sabine said wryly, smirking a little.

"Oh, no, I've definitely never been shot at while going on a supply run, before," Kanan replied, in much the same tone.

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"Better than monkeys."

That monkey was going to get brought up on every supply run.

[uncertain_dume]

"No monkeys this time," Kanan agreed. "You're the one flying, if we find monkeys on this round I'm pretty sure I get to say it wasn't my fault."

"Does that mean I'm also to blame if we get shot at?"

...actually, that could make sense.

Kanan hummed a little.

"Only if it scorches the paint."

He was maybe a little starved for excitement lately.

"That's a very low bar and I like it," Sabine decided.

[uncertain_dume]

"I've got a long history of being shot at," Kanan replied, grinning a bit. "I'm not going to hold it against you when odds are just as good it's my fault."

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"Just as good," she repeated. "I'll have you know I'm very annoying to the right people."

Said the future stormtrooper-taunter.

[uncertain_dume]

"Well, if you're going to be annoying, you have to save up who you're annoying to, right? Make it worthwhile."

Said the man who once asked a Star Destroyer commander what she was wearing.
