The Roof of the MCA and Beyond, Monday

Okay, so... that had definitely been A Weekend. Doing tea with Sith Lords, having to face the fact that Summer was leaving for his own damn off-limits homeworld tomorrow and there wasn't a thing he could do for her if it all went sideways. Not having any guests of his own...

... Even if Sparkle and Hernando's guest had really given it her best attempt.

He had a lot to chew on. He was antsy. And antsy meant...

Well. He could think of someone else from home who probably hadn't had a visitor, which was why he was shooting Sabine a text:

Supply run day again. You in?

And then he was heading to the usual place, leaning back against the side of his ship with his arms crossed over his chest. Just waiting.

"Well, if you're going to be annoying, you have to save up who you're annoying to, right? Make it worthwhile."

Said the man who once asked a Star Destroyer commander what she was wearing.

"I dunno," Sabine said, "there's something to be said for sustainability. Making sure they really hate you for a prolonged amount of time."

"I'm really good at that one," Kanan chuckled. "I didn't even have to try, for the longest time."

Little dark humor there, Kanan.

"Okay, that doesn't count," Sabine decided.

"Fair enough," Kanan replied. "Annoyances I put effort into only, huh?"

He leaned his head back, considering.

"The best way out of half the trouble I wasn't quite in yet was flirting with Imperials." A beat. "Not because the flirting worked. Because they decided I was clearly too stupid to be worth their time."

Sabine made a face. The kind you made when someone you didn't want to think about flirting talked about it.

"Good."

Sorry, Sabine. Now you have to be aware that, at some point in his life, Space Dad flirted.

A lot.

"Yeah, I don't do that so much anymore."

Because it felt weird.

Because Hera.

"Good," she said again.

She did not want this knowledge!

...Partly because Hera. She'd never exactly figured out what was going on there but had never bought the roommates thing but...

Kanan just kind of chuckled as he settled back in his seat.

"So," he mused, "topping up the supplies, huh? Don't suppose you'd be up for another check-in at Tarkintown to see how they're holding up, too?"

Might as well kill two birds and do another shipment of food or medical supplies or something while they were at it.

"Sure. Haven't been back there in a while," Sabine agreed. "Maybe we should start seeing if they need specific things more than others, too. This way we're better prepared with what we bring the next time."

Because there'd be a next time.

There were going to be so many next times.

Kanan nodded his agreement. "Get them to give us a list," he mused. "Things they need right away, for sure, but also for supplies that they're going to want in the long run. More than just food to act as a stopgap. They need some way to support themselves, and the Empire isn't letting them have it."

"Weapons they can get away with hiding without causing a problem... There's plenty they could need."

If they had the means to help, might as well.

Kanan gave a nod of agreement.

"Blasters, power packs. Maybe," he turned a little grin toward Sabine, "some seemingly innocent components that are highly explosive when combined? Ones that can be stored separately so that they're less suspicious, of course."

"Explosive tape exists," Sabine said. "We can get them set up."

"Well, then this shopping trip is going to be like looking for candy," Kanan chuckled. "If we can get it properly stored in the Escape, you have my permission to top up the cargo hold before our run to Lothal. Might as well make the trip worthwhile."

"I can definitely secure it safely," Sabine assured him. "I sort of always live like I might come across high amounts of explosives."

"That's what I like to hear," Kanan decided, grinning. "I'm sure the residents of Tarkintown will like to hear it, too. You might need to give them a crash course in doing the same, mind. Most of them are uprooted farmers and their families, after all."

"I can do that. Certain things are worryingly easy, and then you have to do more with safety," she said. "The easy stuff tends to be less fun, but that's not why we're here anyway."

[uncertain_dume]

"It's not why we're here," Kanan agreed. "If I was in it for fun, I'd just stop coming back to this galaxy at all. Maybe take Vowrawn up on his offer to have me visit. Take up smuggling." Again. "Something like that."

He shrugged.

"This is more worthwhile, though."

Sabine nodded, and paused.

"Knowing you're sticking it to the Empire is a little fun, though."

"Maybe a little," Kanan replied, and smirked just a tiny bit at that. "If some Imperial has even a slightly worse day because of us, I definitely wouldn't complain, anyway."

"I'll take what I can get there," Sabine agreed.

She'd rather really hurt them. She knew she probably wouldn't get that

Really, Kanan would have been in agreement, there.

But he probably would have found a slightly less vindictive way to frame it, if only because he figured he was at least nominally being a Jedi, these days.

"Then we better make it good," Kanan decided. "So far as that goes, arming the resettlement camps and teaching them some strategy isn't a bad start."

Sabine was fine with vindictive.

"And maybe someday that," Kanan agreed easily. "They've got it coming, anyway."

There was going to be so much blowing up of bad guys' stuff, eventually.
