The Escape, Saturday Morning
As sometimes happened, Kanan's supplies were running low. He needed to re-fuel his ship, top up his medkit with bacta patches, grab emergency rations for his ship, and he really couldn't get away with putting any of those things off any longer. And since he happened to know a certain somebody who had been grappling with homesickness for some time now, he had called up Sabine, asking if she was up for making a routine supply run back home, in case there was anything she wanted to top up on herself.
Kanan had no idea if she actually needed anything or not, but he hadn't been surprised when she'd agreed to come along. He imagined she'd come up with something to justify the trip, if nothing else.
"Same rules as last time," he said easily as he steered the ship up, out of atmosphere and into orbit, "you're welcome to bring anything you like back, just so long as it's properly contained. Explosives are welcome on this ship, explosions aren't."

Kanan looked faintly pained.
"But not us. We're-"
"Birds," the creature supplied, peering up from the other side of the ship, now. "You came from the sky and you're nesting in a tree!" A pause. "My tree, actually."

And then the entire ship lurched downwards a couple of feet.
Kanan barely managed to keep his footing.
"No! No no no no no--"
He did not like the monkey.
no subject
Sabine was not above hurting the monkey.

Kanan was looking for that little laughing menace with a creased brow before jumping off the ship, into the tree to chase the creature.
He blinked from a sturdy bough as he watched it giggle, grab a vine, and then make its way easily with that vine to loop it up under the belly of his ship before making its way over to grab another one.
"What... are you doing?"
"You birds want it down, right?"

The monkey laughed again. And then, somehow, found the upper body strength to pull a stick out from under one wing, dislodging the whole damn ship from where it had been hanging. Somehow. In the branches. It lurched again, hit free-fall for a good five feet, and then... hung there, cradled by vines like some kind of wild giant hammock.
"-lem."

"Does the word 'safe' mean something different here?"
no subject
"I... think it thinks that's what passes for safe," Kanan said, sounding pained. "Dropping my ship is not what I'd consider safe, but..."
He glanced down again, and then, with a sigh, jumped down from the tree onto the blue and yellow star cobblestones down below.
"Okay, let's do this my way, instead."

He held up his hand and closed his eyes, reaching out through the Force for his ship.

It... dropped abruptly back into the vines when something with a deep, kind of snarly voice behind him stepped out from the (heart-shaped) bushes and said, "Hello!"
no subject
"Please let this one be helpful."
Because dropping the ship five feet at a time was not.

The monkey popped out again from the foliage.
"I was helping!"
"You really weren't," Kanan muttered.

The lion gave a deep chuckle.
"You'll have to forgive Playful Heart," he mused. "He means well but he can be a little.. enthusiastic."
Kanan answered that statement with a flat, 'No kidding,' look.
no subject
"That's a word for it," Sabine said dryly, starting to climb down since she figured the ship wouldn't be crashing down on anyone now.

Kanan, for his part, continued to look completely unimpressed.
"They've got no tails, Brave Heart," they monkey pointed out. "They flew into my tree and crashed there, probably because they couldn't even steer."
"No, Playful Heart," the lion replied, looking bemused, "I'm pretty sure tails don't have much to do with that one."
no subject
The answer had better not include the word 'tree.'
no subject
"Oh good," Kanan sighed. "There are bears, too."
no subject
Was that weirder than the monkey? She didn't know.
no subject
So, how could they get out of here?
"It's great here," the monkey laughed. "We've got comfortable beds made of leaves, and all kinds of trees, and birds that do have tails!"
He cackled again, and then jumped up again, back into the tree. A moment later, the Escape was slipping another few feet. Kanan's eyes went wide, his hand shot up, and the whole ship stuttered to a stop in mid-air.

He had kind of hoped to be able to do that first. But okay, monkey.
