"Against my better judgment, we're going Mid Rim tonight," Kanan announced, leading Summer away from where he'd landed the Escape, in a grassy field not far from a somewhat affluent city center on one of Naboo's moons. "You want a place with connections, here is where you go to get connections."
He glanced up at the pinkish sky and smiled crookedly as he walked. The cantina in question was only a few minutes away, on the city's outskirts, which was also a point in its favor.
"Pretty place, if you like grass, I suppose." He cast a glance Summer's way. "The people in the city around here have money, we're not too likely to fall into too much trouble in this cantina, but a lot of the industry here comes from miners from just out of town. Even odds we're walking into their watering hole, and if it's after hours today you'll likely meet some of the local... flavor."
Really, after-hours with a mining crew were some of the best hours Kanan had ever spent in his life. This was going to be a treat either way.

"I like grass," she said, because of course she would, "and money's good, too. Mines. Hard workers."
There may have been a small eeee sound escaping her right there, as it caught up with her how great it was to be in a new place to learn about it just for the sake of learning about it, not because they needed anything in particular, or they had to kill someone or steal some rando crystal or to escape because someone'd gone and pissed off an entire race by being a total dickbag.
"I'm excited," she gushed, even though that probably went without saying. "What are the people like here? Mostly human-like, or more diverse? Or, I mean, I guess I'll see when we get there, won't I? What sort of drink should I order? I don't want to make it too obvious that I'm out of place or anything."

"On one of Naboo's moons? Likely mostly human, most Gungans don't stray far from their homeworld, though we might see one or two there, and miners come from anywhere for the work, so brace yourself for pretty much anything. Who are you looking to impress while we're there? If you want to kiss up to the city folks with the money, you might as well just ask for whatever suits you- ask the bartender what the specials are, it isn't their job to judge. If you want to rub elbows with the working folks, ask for whatever the beer here is. That one's usually a safe bet."
Kanan, meanwhile, would probably just order a juma or something. In his era it was just juice, after all, and he was the designated driver, so to speak.
Also, dry. Kanan was dry. That too.

"Mmm," she hummed thoughtfully, "that's a good perspective one it. Asking about the specials'll help me get an idea of what might be popular around here, or," she laughed a little, "whatever they need to get rid of because it doesn't move otherwise. And then despite asking about the specials, still going for whatever the beer is, which shows that I'm interested in something more, but perfectly content or even more comfortable settling for the more basic stuff."
And then just really hope that whatever the beer was here wasn't terrible, but she'd grown up on high school party keggers, if she could pretend to like that stuff, she was pretty sure she could pretend to like whatever the galaxy had to offer.

"You've really been thinking this over, huh?" Kanan turned an amused look her way. "You've been studying up on how our credits work too, I hope? You should have enough on hand for any drink in the bar, but I'll spot you if you don't. Send me a text if you need me to translate some Aurebesh for you without being too obvious about it, too."

"We good," Kanan echoed, bemused. "And I'm not surprised, just... impressed. I'm a really, really bad benchmark for how much thought is a reasonable amount of thought to put into things before walking into a strange cantina, maybe."

Aaaaaand quite a few of her own, yes, but it's not like she was going to mention those.

Yes, her space adventures were weird. That wasn't even the weirdest thing about that one, either.

Said the guy who was seriously wearing the same shirt and armor combo he always did.

"That sounds like a story I might have to pester you about later," she noted in likely expected sing-song.

Somebody had listened to radio, yes.

"Hey, hey now. This is my revenge for the dunk tank," he protested. "I'm done, I'll stop now."
Probably.
no subject
She totally would have anyway, because it was clearly the best thing ever, but that wasn't the point right now.
"Besides, everyone knows my squirrel story, it was all over radio. If there's anyone whose squirrel story that needs investigating, it's hers. I'm pretty sure hers didn't even happen on island."
no subject
Kanan would happily take ranting about the squirrel story if it meant he wasn't being asked about the boulder story while in his home reality. He smiled crookedly as they walked, glancing around as they started making their way between buildings instead of simply through the grass.
"Feeding me meant dinner and a show," he pointed out. "Never let it be said I'm not willing to work for my food."

"Just imagine what we're capable of when we're doing more than playing catch with sausages," Kanan chuckled, eyes skimming the signs they passed by, looking for the cantina. "One of these days, we'll get into some proper trouble."
Maybe not involving a giant skinless soul-sucking demon, next time.

For a change.
She started searching a little herself, even if she didn't know exactly what she was looking for. How hard could it be? Probably bright lights, a lot of people and sounds, maybe music.
...music...
"Oh, hey," said Summer, sounding thoughtful for a moment, "what was the name of that style of music you really like, again?"
To her credit, she even managed to mostly keep a straight face.
no subject
"You know what it's called, Summer."
It wasn't fair, dammit. He just wanted to listen to his jizz without remembering everyone's reaction to the name of it, and that was just no longer possible.
"Core drive."
