In Orbit Around Endor, Kanan and Hera's GFFA, Thursday Afternoon

"So," Kanan said, leaning back comfortably in the co-pilot seat in the cockpit of the Ghost, "the way I figure, we're going on a scouting mission, right? We've got the ship, Summer's got her wobbly things, there, and now we get to go on a grand tour of the Galaxy to see if Hera and I are the only sentients who," were crazy enough to, "like Summer's jelly things. So we start with a variety, right? We've got human and Twi'lek covered, let's go with something a little different."

He gestured to the lush forest moon that appeared before them on the viewscreen, orbiting a gas giant a little farther off. Well. 'A little.' It was all a bit relative in space. There were eight other moons out there, too, but none of them were quite as lush and green as this one.

"Enter, Endor. The Island made a pit-stop there back when I was new to the place, so it isn't a complete unknown. It's in the Outer Rim, so we're about as far out as we can get without hitting Wild Space or the Unknown Regions - I promise, you won't do good business in the Unknown Regions. Probably. And it's got at least two sentient native species that might or might not have a taste for stuff suspended in more stuff, though you're more likely to see Yuzzums wandering the Galaxy than Ewoks. As far as I can tell, most Ewoks are homebodies. And I'm not saying you're going to be setting up a five-star restaurant in the middle of the jungle here or anything, but it's a start."

And, so far as Kanan saw it, since it was so far from the Imperial Core, it was possibly a good place to give Summer a first taste of their Galaxy without immediately getting shot at.

He maybe hadn't factored in spears. Or boarwolves. Or condor dragons.

"So, do we want to take the Ghost down, or leave her in orbit with Chop and take the Phantom instead? It might be easier to find somewhere to land with a smaller ship. Maybe we can even give Summer a crack at the controls."

[OOC: For those two ladies!]

"We'll figure something out," Hera promised. "For now, let's see if we can get some of the locals to come out and trade."

She'd brought some nerf and assorted scrap, if the jello wasn't enough incentive.

"Well," said Summer, after a moment of thinking and looking around and listening to hear if there were even any out there where she was. She figured there had to be; anyone would have noticed that landing.

"You said they liked music, right?" she ventured, smiling faintly. This could either be really good or really bad, but she figured, hey, she saw both of them had blasters, so...

She pulled up her music files on her phone and, after a bit of consideration, turned up her volume and held it up so it would play "Bohemian Rhapsody" as loud and clear as possible with such a little device in such a great big forest.

"Everybody love this song," she assured them, and then wondered if she could score extra credit for Music Appreciation class if it did work. She knew Dr. Lecter's husband would at least approve...

"I don't think it's necessarily a dancing song," Summer admitted after a moment of consideration. "It's more of a 'link-your-arm-over-your-friends-shoulder-and-sway-a-little-as-you-belt-it-out-at-the-top-of-your-lungs kind of song. Until the one part. In which case you headbang."

Which she would happily demonstrate if they got to that part before anything else happened.

It wasn't a bad sounding song, no. Unfortunately, between the beats of that, it took Hera a while of looking around before she finally recognized the sound she was hearing apart from it.

"Oh, no. Blurrgs!" She grabbed for Summer to haul her back into the Phantom. It didn't look like a large stampede, but even ten or so would be more than enough to trample them.

"A blurrg what now?" Summer, startled, allowed herself to be dragged despite her confusion, eyes going wide as she didn't know where to focus. There was Miss Hera pulling her, her feet moving even if her brain hadn't caught up. BDG scurrying up a tree. And her phone nearly leaping out of her hand.

"No!" She reached for it, pulling away from Hera slightly, and managed to snatch it before it went too far, thankfully.

The samples hadn't been so lucky.

"My jello!" she cried out, but she knew it was too late, abandoning them to whatever fate it was Hera was trying to prevent her from suffering.

From the top of the Phantom's ramp, Hera saluted Kanan and grinned.

She was getting ready to head back down when it became apparent that Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't the only thing leading to the blurrg stampede. A group of somewhat disgruntled yuzzums followed, giving up when the blurrgs went into the trees, and eyeing them with curiosity and a bit of suspicion.
somethingwithturquoise: (it's been a rough day.)

And Summer wasn't so startled that she wasn't going to smirk at that salute.

But she bit her lip when she saw the attention they'd received from the other creatures that had emerged. "Um," she stared, peeking a little bit from behind Hera with a wave, "hi! Sorry! My bad!"

Yes, she knew they didn't speak...what did they call it? Basic? But she hoped tone would be pretty universal.

"Didn't mean to get your blurrgs all riled up. No more Queen, I promise!"
somethingwithturquoise: (taco time!)

"Yeah," said Summer with a bit of a grin herself, "that's exactly right. We come in peace, and..."

She decided to chance it, rushing off the ramp and behind the tree to go fetch the dropped jello monstrosities and holding them up before peeling back the foil covering. "We bring food!"

She patted her belly for effect, hoping it wouldn't be horribly interpreted. "Yum yum!"

Then she held the tray toward Miss Hera and BDG with a little nudge as she sort of whispered, "Here, guys, show them."

She certainly wasn't going to eat it if she could help it, but they'd already proven to not mind them so much.

Hera grabbed up the small knife on the tray and cut a piece, taking a bite out of it before offering it to the eldest yuzzum. He took it and sniffed it over, frowned, and then nibbled a bit.

Summer had watched the whole thing with wide eyes and her heart in her throat, not so much out of concern for her ego and her culinary concerns, but more for the fact that this felt like one of those moments on her adventures with her grampa where things would take a really sharp and disturbing and time to run for our lives turn.

And then she was pleased to discover that it definitely didn't go that way.

Yet.

Her experiences made her a little wary of what might happen when they ran out of samples. But for now, she had to feel a swell of pride and promise.

"Nice."

Hera grinned at Summer. "I think you have a winner."

"I told you it would totally work!" Summer positively beamed, not letting the mention of the blurrgs take away a moment for gloating. "That's at least three different species in this galaxy that'll eat my jello and seem to actually enjoy it. You know, I bet if they weren't rampaging herd animals that would probably eat anything, I bet those blurrgs would be totally into it, too.....although, what you just said there makes me worried that they're going to be coming back around again soon and I do not think I'd like to be here when that happens again."
futurespacemom: (happy)

[personal profile] futurespacemom 2018-02-04 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry," Hera said. "Blurrgs on a stampede will keep going until they hit a tree and knock themselves out. They're not the brightest animals. Do you want to give these guys the rest of your jello, or trade for it?"
somethingwithturquoise: (this is my worried face)

[personal profile] somethingwithturquoise 2018-02-04 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
How...did they still survive?

But Summer wasn't going to let herself be distracted with another profoundly stupid species left to inexplicably exist in the great multiverse that was.She tilted her head a little and shrugged. "What would we trade for? I honestly was expecting just to give it all away."

Like a drug dealer. Give them their first hit free, so they come crawling back for more...

Hera went and got the rest of Summer's jello for her, smiling between her and the yuzzums. "They might not have anything you need, but it'll set up the idea of transactions," she pointed out.
