MCA #3, Friday Afternoon

Okay, so class today had Kanan kind of itching to handle a lightsaber. He wasn't going to. He really had nowhere even remotely private that he could do so without risking an excited dog getting underfoot, and even if the Force was with him (or whatever) he wasn't about to risk some sort of horrible lightsaber accident while training just because Stance wanted to help.

So, after making sure Hera was at the junkyard doing... whatever it was Hera did at the junkyard. Running a business or scrounging for spare parts or whatever... he grabbed the first thing that came to hand in the apartment that had any sort of reach - a spatula - he rearranged the small bit of furniture in the living room, and he let himself fall into the old, familiar steps of the lightsaber drills he used to do with Master Billaba.

It wasn't all Soresu. He did occasionally stray, if only to see whether or not he could transition smoothly from the form he knew to the kenjutsu that he'd seen during class. But he always just kind of drifted back. The familiar was kind of nice, even if he was using a spatula.

[OOC: Open for anyone who wants to stop by!]

He might have hours to himself, but eventually Hera needed lunch, and stepped into the apartment blissfully unaware of any spatula antics.

She blinked.

"Is the food attacking now?"

She felt she needed to make sure.

"Good to know, since I'm planning on eating it." Hera rolled her eyes at him as she headed for the kitchen.

"You know, I've probably got something in the junkyard you could use," she offered casually. "Something..." closer to a lightsaber? "...more weapon-like."

"If you say so," Hera said. "But if you start hitting things with the spatula, you can't cook with it anymore."

She took some cold noodles out of the fridge and found a fork. "Might as well use something disposable."

And it was not - mostly - garbage, Kanan. Just discarded.

Hera nodded. "So wouldn't it make sense to have something better to do it with?"

It seemed logical to her, anyway.

Hera frowned and turned the faucet back on, pulling some of the...whatever into a cup to examine it.

And because she couldn't not, "Have you tried not tripping over the dog?"
futurespacemom: (smirking)

"So consider it a challenge," Hera said. "Do you have any idea what this is?" she held up the glass.
futurespacemom: (doubtful)

Hera poured it out with a grimace. "Probably best not to trust it. So, you want to come down to the junkyard and pick something out, or want me to do it for you?"

Or Kanan could always use his lightsaber.

Not that Hera knew that.

"How's the spatula's balance?" she teased.

"Given we've had jewelry thrown from the skies and we currently have no idea what's coming out of our faucets, I'll keep that in mind," she answered dryly.

"The shop this morning only had some sort of hot green drink, but it wasn't bad. Want to stop on the way?"

Hera eyed him. "Can I ask why you were waving a spatula around?" In a way totally unlike any Jedi exercises. "You can say no."
futurespacemom: (well?)

"Your class sounds really interesting," Hera said. She glanced toward the bedroom. "Should we bring Stance, or give him some space? Chopper's in a good mood, so he probably won't cause trouble."

[personal profile] futurespacemom 2017-03-17 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hera froze for a second, then blinked. "I...thought maybe you didn't have one anymore." She shifted a little closer. "So, why not use it now, then?"
futurespacemom: (caring)

[personal profile] futurespacemom 2017-03-17 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hera laughed. "I'd wondered what that was." She nodded at the small piece. "I thought maybe it was a good luck piece or something."

She gave him a smile. "That's smart. But if it's safe enough here for you to...wave a spatula around?...then why not practice with it?"

"I can imagine." Hera put a hand on his shoulder, offering wordless support.

After a moment she said, "Hey - since you don't really need to go to the junkyard, why don't I take Stance with me? He can run around with Chopper, and you can do whatever you need to when a dog's not underfoot."
futurespacemom: (uh-huh)

[personal profile] futurespacemom 2017-03-17 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Should I bring home dinner just in case?" Hera asked.

"You're holding up the other side while I eat," Hera decided. "Then you're on your own."
