Milliways, Sunday Evening

Kanan was actually getting used to living on the island and getting his fill of excitement by leaving to explore whatever was on the other side of the Causeway, and he couldn't help but be curious of the place with the spaceport lot that went on for damn near forever. It had taken him a little bit longer before he realized that the bill for the restaurant was already handled. And, well, when he came to that realization, there wasn't anything keeping him from visiting to have himself a meal on the school's tab, was there? So, over he went, curious but relieved to see another stopover where the locals were more diverse than just humans. A place with very little sentient non-human life just struck him as wrong.

It kind of freaked him out a little.

... Not as much as the conversation with the main course did, though. He was actually looking a little green by the time they wheeled the somewhat dejected creature away from the table. There had been a salad on the menu. Kanan was going to stick with that. It would be a while longer before he managed to pick something to drink, though. He was pretty sure they were using the other two volumes of the wine list to bludgeon somebody's casserole to death in the back room or something.

[OOC: I can't resist a good gnab gib. Open if you're wandering about at the end of the universe! NFB for off-islandness, though.]

"That's just overdramatic," Wash replied. "An EMP should shut it down, followed by a few well placed explosive devices."

WHICH WAS BETTER?

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2016-05-23 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Which was for the best as Wash was destined to be friends with just one guy with a magic laser sword.

"I might." He most certainly did. At all times.

But did he get alien children out of the deal? That was the key point.

"The island has been invaded by aliens multiple times now. I'm just being safe."

UH HUH, WASH.

Alien kids or gtfo!

"That or get used to running."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2016-05-23 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"That... might be difficult," Wash admitted slowly. "I wonder if we're going to visit anyplace close to normal."

Like a box canyon, Wash?

Wash tilted his head a bit as though to convey amusement better. Somehow. "Fair point."

"Not teaching at a school," Wash replied, using his super power of being cryptic. "I'm from what I guess is a potential future."

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2016-05-23 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Let me guess, Mandalorians?" He'd gotten that one before at least.

"One if the teachers at the school insisted I was one. Rand."

It had been a thing, for sure.

"Clone troopers?" That sounded illegal and creepy. And just like something Project Freelancer would do.

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2016-05-23 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'd guess that would be a bad idea."

Because Wash was now all about ethics. But not in video game journalism. Fuck those guys.

"Clones are pretty illegal where I'm from." Whether people or AIs!

"Wow, it's so nice to know colossal fuck ups with questionable moral implications are so universal."

Warmed his heart, it did.

[identity profile] worstofalltime.livejournal.com 2016-05-23 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can't really argue that one," Wash replied, sounding tired and old.

"Don't we all."

A beat.

"Someone's dinner just waved at me. That seems more pressing than the terrible state of the universe at large." You know, for the moment.
